Volik: SJ Tilly

SJ Tilly took a left turn into paranormal romance, and it's so meta. Like, VOLIK (this story) is the romance novel a previous FMC was reading, where the ✨️vampire can smell his mate across town✨️

VOLIK involves a lot of world-building, and Tilly just drops us into the story the day our mates find each other.

This story was fast paced, entertaining, and paranormal enough to keep the other worldliness of THE SIZING not feel so over the top. Like, dude is TALL excluding the horns 👀 👀 👀

Nyx is the independent but LONELY journalist turn professor, and Volik is the Vampire on staff at the college. They meet on her first day, which also happens to be her birthday.

This story was interesting, I love a new take on vamps and other "alts". The magic of it all was fun to read, too.

I think Volik would be a super fun beach read. It's got spice and the sweetness between these two is off the charts.

A Midsummer Night's Fling: Kelly Fox

A MIDSUMMER NIGHT'S FLING was a shortie little novella that was available for the prolific works summer freebie giveaway. I scooped this one up so fast because you know Kelly Fox is an autobuy author for me.  First off, the idea for this story is epic. There are two conventions in the same hotel, and they very obviously do not go together. CHEF'S KISS. We were lucky to be blessed with the gym bros and the literature nerds.  All hail the impeccable jock/nerd trope. It's such a wonderful & classic choice. Always hits the spot like a diet coke on a summer day.  And Kelly Fox did not miss. There was a lot of story packed into 93 pages.  Gavin, our Shakespeare nerd, has an intense insta-lusty-eye contact vibe with Kai, the bulky & well-off gym bro-ey guy he ends up sharing an elevator with. This book was perfection. May Archer always finds a way to make her stories so incredibly heartwarming and hilarious. KISS MY AXE had me laughing and crying (they were happy tears.)
