Hard Job: A-List Security book 2: Annabeth Albert

14/179 rereads for reviews 🎶 and I'm keeping the series theme going with book 2 in the A-List Security series.

Duncan, through his brother Danny's insistence, agrees to offer security on the last leg of Ezra Moon's concert tour.

What the reader knows, and Duncan isn't willing to tell people, is that he is a BIG fan of Ezra's music, and Ezra himself.

I remember the first time I read this & being swept away by Ezra, but this time he came off as a bit bratty. Assertive for sure, but definitely bratty. Duncan was too rigid and closed off & he needed the push, but still.

They do the "in secret" thing for awhile because their chemistry is too much to ignore... but it isn't sustainable long term. Duncan and Ezra fall so hard and so fast.

There was a good amount of sweet in this story and a LOT of Duncan's coming to terms with his attraction and reminding himself that he IS allowed to have this, if he wants it. He is ALLOWED to be happy. He just needs to let himself.

• bodyguard (exNavy Seal)
• rockstar
• on tour
• stealth hookups
• caretaking
• brother's best friend ○ forbidden
• mentions of bad family dynamics

I appreciated the spicy scenes. For most of the hookups and practically all the sex scenes Ezra was the instigator. I really liked that. Yes, you would think with Duncan being ON all the time and being in charge at work he would also take the control in the bedroom, but that doesn't happen. Ezra sees Duncan's need to be taken care of and shows up for it.

"Let me have this. I asked the universe. Just this. I'll be happy with that, promise. It wouldn't be enough, and my chest crackled, ancient locks around my heart creaking under the strain."

"Shut up and spoon me, Ezra, I demanded, shoving my hips into his groin until he wrapped me up from behind. Safe. I was safe. And maybe this would be my only chance to drift off surrounded by his warmth and strength, but I was done denying myself even a few more precious hours with him."

Duncan's soft heart was the best surprise. He was so scared of being like his father, he pushed everyone away. Until Ezra, he was content behind his walls, but for him they all crumbled. Your honor, I am having FEELINGS.

All in all, great addition to the series. I liked the two main characters and enjoyed seeing them settle down happy and in love.
