Omega's Heart: Mercy Hills book 7: Ann-Katrin Byrde

Omega's Heart is one of my favorite books. This series is amazing and has stellar world building. It's especially perfect if you like abo stories or shifter stories.

Basically, we're in a world where shifters are real. The government decides to put them in enclaves, and Alphas are in charge of their own enclave. There are, and I'm going from memory here so I may miss one: Los Padres, Winter Moon, White River, Persiguir, Montana Border, Jackson-Jellystone, Nevada Ashes, Honisloonz, Salma Wood, Jordan Bay, Green Moon, and of course, MERCY HILLS. There are also "true omegas" and lots of lore around the true omegas being lucky or having "powers." It's WILD.

ANYWAY. Omega's Heart is Felix and Kaden's story. Felix is originally from White River but moves to Mercy Hills to start a new life. He's "too big for beauty," and the alphas all overlook him. He's 28 and feels unmateable. He moves to Mercy Hills, and eventually, his job becomes looking after the alpha brother of THE Alpha. Kaden was injured in the Army, and now he's home to heal.

Kaden feels like a broken alpha. As he gets to know Felix more and more, he realizes that the alphas in White River were fools and decides to court/mate Felix.

All the while, Kaden starts working for their local senator. Apparently, the senator plans to run for president, and if the shifters vote, the senator will "strike down" the segregation laws. The shifters will get more freedom and won't be forced to live under the harsh rules of the laws in/of the enclaves.

There's also the underlying plot throughout the entire series of each omega finding their HEA. Most are "true omegas," and they're discovering their powers. They're also dealing with prejudice against omegas from basically everyone, and they're in charge of the distribution of the Mutch Trusts. Which I'm not even gonna try to explain.

But basically, a whole hell of a lot is going on. I love this story for Felix, mostly. But I also love the look into the other enclaves.

This series is criminally overlooked. I love them. I've reread this book SO MANY TIMES.
