The Wrong Bride: Catharina Maura

This is a hetero ✨️MF ✨️ romance. And just so you know, this entire review is one big spoiler. So maybe don't read it, unless that's okay for you.

BUCKLE UP

Y'all, this book was crazy. I read it because I saw an Instagram reel with quotes and thought "I can get on board with that" ... and I DID enjoy the story. Everytime I almost dnf-ed it, I wanted to stick around to see what would happen next.

This entire story was a mess 😂😂😂 it's billionaires and conglomerates and models and actresses and family dysfunction and American "royalty" - it wasn't a dystopian setting, but it sure felt like one.

Picture this: a billionaire family ran by a matriarch Grandma. She arranges the marriages of her grandchildren and they don't believe in divorce. It's literally all business deals.

Raven knew she would marry Ares, her best friend's older brother, and that it was an arranged marriage. She manages to fall in love anyway. When she gives him her virginity, the next morning he announces his relationship to her sister Hannah. He thought Raven was the dream and that he slept with Hannah. *this was a calculated move*

Fast forward YEARS. Raven is successful in her own right, but she still loves Ares. ✨️the pining and angst are top tier here✨️ After postponing the wedding three times, Hannah calls it off, damn the consequences. So billionaire granny ✨️who isn't as nice as she seems✨️ says no matter, Raven will marry Ares. Like I wanted the entire time.

Then over 200 pages go by of Raven feeling insecure and Ares falling in love with her. Hannah keeps coming on the scene causing problems. Each problem more and more terrible.

Then we find out that Raven was only born for the stem cells, because Hannah was sick as a child.

THEN theres a surprise pregnancy from Hannah claiming it was Ares'.

Raven and Ares end up with a happily ever after, but Jesus, at what cost.

Ares was an idiot.

Raven was kind, but she had no backbone.

Hannah was a vapid narcissist.

The mother was WORSE.

Grannie was a diabolical mastermind.

All Ares' siblings were chaotic.

This book was a mess. But like I said, I kept reading because I wanted to see where the insanity went. There was plenty of MY WIFE. And I did love that. And I am super glad it all worked out for them. But damn. And there's like, a million books after this one 😂😂😂 I might read them. For all it's CRAZY, this book was entertaining as hell.
