Renovating Law: Tia Fielding & Kris T. Bethke

Black Dog Inn book 2

I was so excited to jump back into this little universe. I read book one yesterday, and I can confirm that book two was just as good! Especially if you're here for age gap romance *14 years*, single dad vibes, found family + actual family, adorable kids, "it takes a village", religious trauma, what amounts to emotional backlash from escaping a cult, healthy communication, dogs, and amazing side characters that keep the story going. There was even a hint of very light (barely discernable), but there, primal play.

Law is a family man. He's raising his three kids and trying to navigate a divorce. When his mother goes too far, Law decides to make the move cross country to be in Fairville with his brother Charlie (+ crew!)

Oak escaped his abusive and toxic family and moved to Fairville to be with his non-endoctrinated family. He starts work at the Black Dog Inn. He's getting his life together but can't seem to stop his crush on the handsome single dad that he works with.

This is a very simplified synopsis. There's all kinds of layers for these two, not including the fact that they both have the exact same support system. Falling too quickly into a relationship could ruin what both men have built separately. But the chemistry is just too much to ignore.

There's a little spice in this one, but the story is mostly centered around storytelling. We get to fall into their lives as they navigate what they both want, what's best for Law's kids, and what a future could even look like.

I loved that Oak was a sweetheart but also a brat. I loved that Law was, at his core, a caretaker. I loved how much the kids were a part of the story, and even the dogs continued to add entertainment and comedic relief when necessary.

I also love that they showcased what real healing could look like. Oak sleeping 15 hours after a therapy appointment left me feeling pretty seen.

There was a whole lot of sweetness in this one. RENOVATING LAW would be perfect for a day when you may be feeling like a small town romance or a really good found family romance.

Rebuilding Charlie and Renovating Law are both available to read now and I definitely recommend this series!!
